Kent Schools
The Design Collective were appointed to conduct a series of full M&E condition surveys at 20 schools within the Kent catholic schools Partnership. The conditions surveys were commissioned to identify any non-compliance issues and prioritise repair and remedial works required throughout each of the schools. The reports provide budget estimate against essential works and non-essential works over a projected 10-year period.
The reports have enabled the schools and the trust to better forecast building services related issues and start a process of budgeting to accommodate future works. By categorising the essential and non-essential works the schools have expressed their feeling of comfort related to items that can be addressed in a more measured and planned approach.
Typical examples of the surveys looked at the main services infrastructure as well and heating and hot water generating plant looking at both efficiency and quality of service. Water hygiene issues were keys considerations as well as the school Fire Alarm provision and security systems. Health and safety issues were also identified related to the school’s power and lighting provisions.
