NESCOT College

The proposed project comprises the refurbishment of the Third floor of an existing campus building to provide a dedicated Learning Factory to support the proposed new 'Institute of Technology' (IOT) facility. Based on the planned curriculum and learner numbers the proposed target gross internal floor area for the new centre is approximately 500m².

The new centre will enable the provision of a range of specialist engineering laboratories and Computing suites, supporting a wide range of engineering disciplines with an emphasis on sustainable “SMART” engineering practices. These will form an independent Hub within the campus linked with the other facilities and resources of the College to foster interdisciplinary working and engagement with industry and employer partners.

The proposed IoT offer in NESCOT will complement the College’s wider Estate Strategy. This strategy seeks to:

  • Build upon the College’s strong reputation across a broad range of curriculum areas, including, STEM, Digital and Construction;
  • Continue to support and develop links to industry in order to deliver the skills needed by local employers;
  • Enhance the wider student experience and further strengthen the image of the sector;
  • Accommodate the future training needs of the growing demographics.
