The Design Collective worked with Neilcott Construction to develop the M&E design for the new apartment block. The development consists of 32 new homes of which half will be open to shared equity with the Council. The new properties were built for Reigate and Banstead Borough Council.
The proposed development at Cromwell Road comprises a five-storey building, with retail space on the ground floor and residential apartments on the four floors above. The new building is located on the site of an old three storey retail and residential building which was demolished.
New infrastructure services have been brought into the site to service the new apartments and commercial units.
Planning considerations focused on noise and air quality with the site being central to Redhill and the surrounding commuter belt, the services strategy incorporates air filtration within the whole house ventilation systems, to reduce pollutants from entering the building. Apartments have been provided with boilers with flue heat recovery systems to boost energy efficiency and help meet the council’s philosophy of low energy homes.
